Friends of the Rosary,
In today’s Gospel (Matthew 5:43–48), as part of the message of the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord commands us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, “that you may be children of your heavenly Father.”
“Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
On Holy Thursday, before expiring on the Cross, the Lord said, “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
Love is willing the good of the other as the other.
This also took place on the cross of Jesus. Jews, Romans, Pharisees, Sadducees, his own disciples—everyone betrayed him, ran from him, denied him, actively arranged for his death.
And yet these are the very people that he loves and brings peace, the very people for whom he gives his life.
Ave Maria!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.
Please give us the grace to respond with joy!
