Friends of the Rosary,
“Tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God are entering the kingdom of God before you,” said Christ the Lord to the chief priests and elders of the people, as we read in the Gospel today (Matthew 21:28-32), the twenty-sixth Sunday in ordinary time.
He explained why.
“When John came to you in the way of righteousness,
you did not believe him;
but tax collectors and prostitutes did.
Yet even when you saw that,
you did not later change your minds and believe him.”
This means that when someone encounters Jesus Christ, he finds everything needed to be happy — and enter the Kingdom.
The Lord is infinitely more attractive than the false delights of this earthly world.
The main reading also shows that saying “yes” is not enough if our actions say “no.”
Saint Paul’s passage points us to the humility of Christ, who emptied Himself and obeyed the Father completely, encouraging us to repent, become humble like Christ, and let our obedience be real.
