Friends of the Rosary,

The Holy Trinity is inviting us to the eternal banquet, an image of the spiritual abundance God offers humanity, as St. Augustine said. Attachment to earthly concerns prevents the soul from accepting the joy of communion with Him.

Today, as we honor Saint Martin de Porres, Religious, the Gospel (Luke 14:15–24) presents Christ Jesus with a parable that compares the Kingdom of God to a magnificent banquet prepared for invited guests.

Those who initially receive the invitation decline, offering excuses based on their possessions, wealth, occupations, status, personal commitments, and social recognition. We see how easily legitimate earthly concerns can become obstacles to our relationship with God.

The master’s response is extraordinary: he extends the invitation to the poor, the disabled, and those ordinarily excluded from positions of privilege.

Christ reveals the generosity of divine grace. The Kingdom of Heaven is open to all who respond to the Lord’s invitation with faith and humility.

We are all invited to examine the excuses we make when God calls us to conversion, prayer, generosity, or service. We wrongly think that spiritual growth can wait until more convenient circumstances.

Yet Christ reminds us that the invitation to eternal life is offered now. Our response to God’s grace should become the central priority of our existence!

Let’s not let temporary concerns and legitimate worldly activities displace our eternal priorities.

St. Martin de Porres: Martin’s life illustrates the universal dignity of every human person before God. Through humble service to the poor and sick, he demonstrated that divine love reaches beyond social distinctions and human prejudice.

Ave Maria!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!

Here I am, Lord; I come to do Your will.
Please give us the grace to respond with joy!
