Friends of the Rosary,

Christ the Lord was challenged by the Pharisees, being asked why he didn’t encourage fasting among his followers, as we read today (Luke 5:33-39). His answer, in typical Jewish style, came with another question:

“Can you make the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them?”

This image of the wedding feast appears frequently in the New Testament, most notably in the Cana wedding narrative.

Jesus is the wedding of heaven and earth, the marriage of divinity and humanity. Christ is the bridegroom, and the Church is the bride. In him, the most intimate union is achieved between God and the world.

Also, in the same passage, Jesus teaches that His presence brings something new: new wine needs fresh wineskins, inviting us to renew the container of our lives.

In this regard, the Psalm calls us to trust in the Lord, commit our way to Him, and take refuge in Him.

The outcome is not to seek new grace while clinging tightly to old habits and old fears.

Ave Maria!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!

Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.
Please give us the grace to respond with joy!
