Friends of the Rosary,
Saint Ignatius of Antioch, the saint martyr we honor today, inspired generations of persecuted Christians with the seven letters he composed on his earthly journey.
When he was martyred in Rome, in the amphitheater around the year 107, he said:
“Let me be food for the wild beasts, for they are my way to God.”
“I am God’s wheat and shall be ground by their teeth, so pray to Christ for me that the animals will be the means of making me a sacrificial victim for God.”
Saint Ignatius served as the third bishop of Antioch for forty years until he was arrested and martyred in the Eternal City.
Ave Maria!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
Here I am, Lord; I come to do Your will.
Please give us the grace to respond with joy!
